The GPU
The GPU is a group of past and present Mayors and Mayoresses dedicated to raising the profile of the Cinque Ports, raising funds for charity, whilst endeavouring to enjoy themselves.
Last Monday 15th January 2024, nine members said goodbye to our good friend, and GPU member, Frances after losing her battle with cancer. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her, may she rest in peace.
On the 6th November, seven members finally managed to celebrate Sandie's birthday with a meal at the Ship and Trade, and after were present at the uncovering a plaque to recognise Nick's time at Medway Council.
In July 2022 six of us had a weekend away at Littlecote House to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the inauguration of the GPU.
A good liquid time was had by all as can be seen in the slide show below.
In November 2021 we lost Nick, and in January 2022 a memorial service was held in Rochester Cathedral to celebrate his life.
